Who am I and what are my qualifications?
My name is Sophia Yu Chang – the wife of Wally (A postal man near 30 years, retired in 2018. ), a mother of two sons and currently a grandmother of 5 beautiful babies in year 2020.
Wally and I immigrated from Taipei, Taiwan in 1982. We grew up in Taipei and learned Chinese there. Mandarin & Taiwanese are my native languages. Wally & I earned bachelor degrees at “Taipei Fu-Jen University” of MBA and International Trade. I have been an entrepreneur for over 20 years for financial provision, raising a young family for over 37 years and with the same husband of over 40 years. My life journey is a precious one to share.

What inspired me to teach you “Mandarin” Chinese?
My sons & grandchildren are American-born Chinese. English is currently their native. I like my children and their children to be interested in a rich Chinese culture, philosophy and beautiful & amazing Chinese fonts. Those fonts were originally created from graphics to express the meanings of various communications for thousands of years. They are very interesting, amazing and fun. Before I get too old with decreasing energy, I can see this is the right time to start teaching. I wish for more people (not only my family) to benefit and have fun learning fluent Chinese through my videos.
One of my favorite pastimes is to watch Chinese drama episodes. I separate my time to create more videos . The precious and classic, idioms, proverbs, modern slang folk songs and cartoons are very abundant in the various fields. I love sharing both “traditional” & “simplified” Chinese characters and writing animations as well. 20% of the world population speaks Chinese. This is essentially 1 out of 5 people. There are many benefits to knowing and speaking Chinese for highlighting your lifestyle. The Chinese culture is very rich and interesting.
Starting put this new site up in early 2019, please be patient to wait for more videos. I use my spare time to do these. thank you. I also welcome you to correct my English writing here.

Do I hand write Chinese brush Calligraphy as well?
Yes. Since grammar school in Taiwan, we all learned Chinese brush calligraphy both in writing and painting. I like it. During winter and summer holidays, we used to get a lot of homework to practice writing our calligraphy.
